Alfred Van Vickle and family. Ionia County, Michigan. The
Old Belding Cemetery--also called the Free Methodist Cemetery is in Ionia
County, the city of Belding. These grave stones were copied by Mrs Ralph Dean
[Hazel] and Mrs. Eston Bates [Leota] of Belding in Aug of 1963. Many of the
stones are broken and many inscriptions are not readable. Originally, the
cemetery belonged to a Mr. William Wilson, and Mr. Wilson's first wife is buried
here. When he remarried and decided to return to New York to live, the cemetery
was given to the church. This is the final resting place for approximately 400
people of who 374 are listed. The earliest burials were in the early 1800s --
the last in 1957. Van Vickles buried here include:
VanVickle, Alfred B. 1845, 1927; VanVickle, Lauretia, 1837, 1908;
VanVickle, Leah 06-19-1890; VanVickle, Maggie 07-1-1889
